Genuinely. If you have used a few of these platforms you already know ZenBusiness wins on interface. Everything is where you expect it, the language is human, and the account never makes you feel like you have wandered into a filing cabinet. Some people will happily pay for that, and we are not going to tell them they are wrong.

What we sell is not software. It is a door in New Jersey with somebody behind it and a price that behaves.

$99 to Arrive, $199 to Stay

Buy their registered agent service on its own and year one lands at $99 with the state's charges on top. Renewals from then on run $199 apiece.

Decide on the $199. That is the price of the arrangement, because New Jersey wants an agent named for every year your LLC is alive, and only one of your bills will ever say $99. The other nine in a decade say $199.

Ours says $99 nine times too. The difference between the two renewal figures is $100 a year, repeating.

Fair warning against reading that as a bargain-basement boast. BetterLegal posts $90 a year, so $99 is close to the low end of the New Jersey market rather than the very bottom of it.

Twenty-Five Dollars, Payable to a Treasurer

Here is the part that always surprises people who have moved agents in other states.

New Jersey will let you end a $199-a-year relationship with a paper form and a personal check for $25, written out to Treasurer, State of New Jersey. Not to a department, not to a bureau, to a Treasurer. The instructions have said so for decades.

If a check feels antique, the state runs a business amendments portal that takes the same change with a card. Either channel works, and the fee is $25 whichever one you pick. There is a third option too: swap the agent inside your annual report while you are already in the system, and the same $25 attaches to that transaction.

That is the whole cost of acting on the $100 gap. One check, or four minutes online.

What It Takes to Switch From ZenBusiness in New Jersey

The requirement your replacement has to meet comes from N.J.S.A. 42:2C-14: someone who lives in New Jersey, or a party carrying authority to transact business here, operating from a street address inside the state. A PO box is allowed in the record only when a street address sits next to it.

The filing itself is Form L-122, the LLC change certificate, at $25, submitted to DORES, the Treasury unit that keeps the business records. On it go the entity name as the state has it recorded, your entity ID, and the incoming agent's details. Mail it with the check or file it online, whichever you prefer. And the one rule we repeat to everybody: get the new appointment filed before you cancel the old subscription. ZenBusiness stays your agent of record until New Jersey processes the certificate, which means the coverage overlaps on its own. Cancel first and you have manufactured a gap that the state never required you to have.
