New Jersey Asks for a Street Address, Not a Software Subscription
New Jersey registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.
Conflict of interest, declared: New Jersey Registered Agent.co sells the $99 service this page compares against, so read our verdict accordingly. Rocket Lawyer's prices are their published ones, confirmed during a July 2026 check.
Fair Points About Rocket Lawyer
They built something real. A members' library of contracts and legal documents, guided drafting that works for people who are not lawyers, and attorney access for the questions that do not justify an hourly bill. Small companies that lean on all three get their money's worth, and there is no sleight of hand in how any of it is sold.
You Are Renting the Whole Platform
Registered agent service costs $125 a year, and that number is identical at every membership tier. No introductory rate, no promotional first year, nothing that changes on you later.
We will take a moment to praise that, because plenty of this industry does not price so cleanly.
The catch is not the number, it is the packaging. Agent duty comes attached to the legal subscription, so a portion of your $125 pays for templates and consultations regardless of whether you ever open them. Companies that use the library are fine. Companies that only need someone in New Jersey to catch a summons are paying rent on rooms they never enter.
Not the minimum price in New Jersey, ours. That title goes to BetterLegal and its $90 listing. Ours ranks near the low end and never climbs from there.
New Jersey Wants an Address, Not an App
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereThe state is specific about what the registered office has to be, and none of it is software.
It must be a New Jersey street address. The filing instructions allow a PO box in the record only when a street address is listed as well, never on its own, and the reason is completely practical: a process server carries papers to a physical place and hands them to a person. There is no digital substitute for that moment. Treasury guidance adds that a company taking the role should hold its own New Jersey registration and stay on good terms with the State Treasurer.
That is the entire job description, and it is a job about presence during business hours. A document library does not answer the door. What matters after the door opens is speed, and ours is same-day: anything handed to us gets scanned and posted to your account before the business day closes, because your response clock started the second the papers changed hands.
The same address does quieter work the rest of the year. New Jersey routes its annual report notices to whatever registered office is on your record, and the report itself is $75 plus a portal surcharge, due at the end of your own formation anniversary month. There is no statewide filing season to remember, which is exactly why the notices matter and why a slow mail process is expensive here. Let two of those reports go unfiled back to back and the state gains the power to revoke the company altogether, an outcome that costs far more to undo than the reports would have cost to file.
Rocket Lawyer Out, Us In: One New Jersey Form
The mechanics are a $25 change certificate filed with the Revenue division inside the Department of the Treasury, on paper or through the state's online amendments service, and our agent change page covers the entry fields and what to expect afterward.
One point from it earns repeating here. Your incoming agent should be appointed and the certificate filed before the Rocket Lawyer membership is cancelled, because New Jersey leaves the existing agent on your record until it processes the change. Filing first turns the whole thing into a handoff on one date. Cancelling first is the only way to end up temporarily without an agent, and there is no reason to do it.

If your business wants the contracts and the attorney line, buy them from somebody who builds them well. Just do not buy a platform in order to get a mailbox.
